Safety Flooring For Playgrounds

A safer surface should always be considered when initially planning your project. We always strongly advisor any customer considering any play equipment installation to have a safer surface installed. However, according to the current BSEN regulations they are not required, when the equipment has a maximum FHOF off under 1000 millimetres when installed on a well maintained turf area. We tend to limit the height to 900 millimetres to be onthe safe side.

A safer surface is mandatory where the equipment has FHOF of over 1000 millimetres, and/or installed on to any other surface other than well-maintained turf at any height. It is not permissible even to put low-level equipment on tarmac or concrete. As part of a service to you, we are able to advise where a safer surface really should be included, the most suitable type for your individual application, and the exact amount of falling space required around the equipment.

Wet PourWet Pour

Colourful, vibrant, cost-effective, with variable depths dependent on play apparatus height. Wet pour surfaces look clean, professional, and they enhance a play area whilst providing a high level of safety.

- Many colours and designs available
- Virtually maintenance free
- Very durable material
Safety MattingSafety Matting

Safety matting is laid on grass with holes, allowing the grass to grow through. The grass can then be maintained as normal, with the added safety matting support.

- Can be used for both low and high level play equipment
- Once established, looks natural as grass grows through
- Protects grass from erosion
Play BarkPlay Bark

Play bark is a form of 'loose fill' safety surface, composed of treated woodchip which is laid to provide a cushioned safe surface.

- Cheap to install, and only requires retaining walls to hold the material
- 100% recyclable
- Looks natural in a woodland or park environment
Rubber MulchRubber Mulch

A cost effective new alternative to wetpour safety surfaces, which requires no sub base and can be laid onto existing surfaces. Can be supplied as loose fill or 'SoftBond' (with a binder).

- Same day curing, with many colours available
- Made from 100% recycled rubber, and can look natural (depending on choosen colour mix)
- Great for areas where digging foundations is a problem (such as tree roots)
